DLC certification

DLC certification

Introduction

The DLC (DesignLights Consortium) certification helps identify commercial LED lights that are energy-efficient, reliable, and built to last. It’s mainly used for lighting in warehouses, parking lots, offices, and other commercial or industrial spaces across the U.S. and Canada.

While Energy Star covers home and commercial products, DLC focuses only on lighting for commercial and industrial use. This includes products like high bay lights, wall pack fixtures, and retrofit kits.

To get DLC certified, a product must meet strict standards for energy efficiency, light quality, durability, and smart control features. That means the lights use less power, give off consistent and comfortable lighting, last a long time, and can support features like dimming or smart controls.

DLC certified products are listed on the DLC Qualified Products List (QPL). Being on this list means the product may qualify for utility rebates and also helps support environmental goals such as reducing energy use and cutting light pollution.
